Course contents:

This comprehensive course runs once a month on a FRIDAY MORNING   10am - 1pm

The seasonal sessions are small and informal with plenty of opportunity for discussion (and cake).

April 8th

Learn how to sow seed, feed and mulch and look at the best spring plants for the garden

May 13th

Looking at biennials and bulbs, learning about the ‘Chelsea Chop’, taking some cuttings and learning how to keep the borders full. The May, June and July sessions link together as a ‘better borders’ course.

June 10th

June is the Cottage garden month - we’ll look at summer perennials, caring for roses, organic pest control. we’ll also look forward to late summer and beyond, to make sure the show continues.

July 8th/9th

Border Design - and how to keep interest in the borders all year round. Design tips, a list of the best plants to use and where to plant them.

September 9th

This month we’ll focus on grasses and late summer perennials, we’ll take some cuttings and learn how to collect and store seed.

October 15th

Preparing for next year. We’ll sow hardy annuals, plant bulbs, learn how to plan and prepare a new border and look at perennials.

November 11th

Pruning, shrubs and trees for autumn colour. Winter protection.
